HAWAII 10/21 AND 10/22

I decided to do something big this year. I've been living waiting for big things to happen rather than making them happen. So I planned and went to Hawaii with Mom, Dad and LaDessa. It was an amazing trip, and one that I will be continuing as often as I can until I'm married. Why not?! I need something to look forward to that brings me joy amongst a life of doing the same each week, week after week. I turn 33 in 16 days and I want experiences like this to enrich my life now and in the years to follow.

We took 1,300+ pictures between 3 cameras...now down to 1,053 after I spent 3 days going through the pictures, deleting some and organizing the photos so all pictures flowed in order...I will have to just blog with my favorites and post the trip in multiple posts by days.

At the Airport for mom's first flight EVER, and here she is starting
off the trip already hiding her face for the picture with LaDessa.

Honolulu Hawaii: This is what you see when you
head out to go to get your luggage

Me with my underwear showing as usual :(

Me with Mom trying to be happy for a picture :) Dad was long gone at this
point as fast as he was moving he was probably already waiting at the
luggage retrieval. So we took in the moment and got a few pictures.

Eating at the Famous "Bubba Gump Shrimp" The waiter actually
had us answer Forest Gump movie trivia while we waited for our food.
He was really impressed with our movie knowledge.

This was the coveted Fish and Chips. Mom and I ordered things that
were OK and then we tasted LaDessa's fish and chips and could have
cried that we had picked the wrong food!

My onion rings were actually really good, just really thick

Just outside of "Bubba's" which was at the Mall in Honolulu,
where it looked out on the ocean and you could see
some of the great views of Honolulu

LaDessa got a great shot of our backsides looking out over the ocean

Me and Dessa

Wow my feet look big in Forest's shoes

LaDessa and I's view from our hotel room at the Aqua Bamboo and Spa
hotel in the heart of Honolulu. We had no idea when taking these that
mom and dad looked out their window and had mostly the view of
a brick wall. Should have gone up a floor for a better view for them.

Don't let her know you have the camera and you get fun photo's like this...

Paybacks come when you go out on the balcony to see their crappy
view and she locks you out. Good thing we had a camera so we
could do something on the balcony in the hot humid heat. Yes that
is the lovely brick wall behind us that was mom and dad's room view.

It was so bright I'm squinting and sweating by now! Bonus was
they had chairs on their deck to sit on while we waited to get back in.

On our way to the Laia Temple and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Leaving the city means gorgeous greenery like this from the car window
and the ocean on the other side to follow all the way up the highway.

Green Mountains and big billowy clouds

We got lucky and got tickets for the first day that the Laia Temple
opened for the open house tours. So here is mom and LaDessa
in the parking lot of the Temple10/22. Yes LaDessa is holding on to
mom so she will be in the picture. I recognized Eubanks the Weatherman
from channel 5 news as we were heading into the tents which was really
cool. He and his wife are there serving over the visitor center at the Temple.

they are very beautiful and unique

I can't remember what this was called but I learned it in
young women years ago so it was fun to do it again.
Roberto and Yin next to us were in our group and tagged
along with us through our tour and ate with us at dinner

The night show

My favorite part of the night show: the fire twirlers

Me and Dessa after the show with the main sweaty performer
He even warned us that he was wet and I wasn't sure if I should
touch him so I did and then let go cause it was wet and...awkward

Taking Chances

Work this Fall has been crazy and busy. I've drove school buses more than I've wanted, but what was necessary. In the midst of the craziness I survived, dog/house sat, visited Hawaii and did a couple of things I probably wouldn't have done in previous years and especially at a younger age.

I've come to a conclusion that I have to be me in all that I do and if a guy doesn't respond to what I do then it's not meant to be. What have I got to loose? Nothing. I suffer through the long painful process of wondering if a guy likes me and when it comes to my realization that they don't it's too late and I've invested to much of myself and the guy has invested nothing.

I became good friends with Spring/Summer guy after he apologized for last summer. In the 2 months that followed we talked a lot and I thought we were just friends. But I started realizing that I couldn't wait to see him each week and when he brought another girl with him to my house, it hit me how attached I was. Not sure why I do that, but it's obviously my personality. So the first of September I decided to let him know I had feelings for him. It went well, and we talked about it. I expected him to avoid it and and avoid me. That didn't happen we talked about it more than I thought we would and he asked to remain friends and to not have me avoid him if possible. At least I know where I stand and where I go from here. If I need to pull away to let my more than friends feelings for him end, then that's what I do. I'll let you know how it goes.

Then I met a guy at a party and had a really good time talking to him and getting to know him. He is a friend of a friend of mine. So when you don't have a direct connection of your own with someone it's harder to see them and get to know them. I had hopes of seeing him at a birthday party a couple weeks later but he didn't come. I asked our mutual friend what I should do and she didn't know. So I did something about it. I found him on facebook and sent him a message. It was simple, I hoped he remembered me, asked if we could get to know each other, and said that there was no expectations or pressure. That was last Monday 11/22/10 and he hasn't responded...Upside is that his not responding is probably because he is not interested, so I save myself from investing time and energy in him.

I just have to keep getting out and going places to meet new people and experiencing life!

I ALMOST FORGOT

Last months potluck was about 2 weeks ago and I forgot to post the highlights of the evening. Sad to say that usually one event...one very interesting event has to set the tone for the rest of the evening. And this time it had to happened within the first 5-10 minutes of arriving.

I arrived with Alicia and Marianne and we are usually the first to show up cause Alicia is in charge. So we arrived and 3 guys arrived shortly after. They did not come together but all arrived with Jello as their offering for the potluck. I like jello so that's not the issue. They all started in on who's jello was better by whether it was homemade, bought at the store or had fruit in it, and it even went as far as whose was Celestial and who's was Telestial jello. Did they think we would be impressed by this very odd display of male flirting?

Well I had, had enough by about 4 minutes as well as Alicia and so we both made a not so sneaky exit for the family room and couches. That left Marianne to deal with the whole jello conversation and finding her own way to sneak away. And I didn't have to talk to any of them the rest of the night.

My next favorite was a guy asking me about my ideas on relationships and other honest things about what I thought, and seconds after finishing he got up and left me sitting on the grass never to return. Hey he's the one who asked the questions I was just honest. Will they ever learn. The interesting part was that about 30 minutes later I caught him staring at me from the deck above and smiled at me. So why did he so abruptly leave??? Whatever.

Then conversations turned to everyone's worst dates and while doing this a guy pulled up a piece of grass next to me and we talked for the rest of the evening. That actually made the end of the evening the best part. He was easy to talk to and we had fun getting to know each other. Now if I could just talk and get to know guys like him the evening would turn out a whole lot better and I wouldn't want to avoid a huge population of males. :)

I'm wondering where the one for me is hiding? I'm getting annoyed with playing hide and go seek!
