I'm spending the night trying to catch up on all the blog posts that I'm behind on from what I've been doing the last month and found that I missed posting about the Saturday in July that we canned green beans in Cache Valley.
Since mom broke her arm it's not possible to do a few things especially french style the beans. I have a picture of her with her cast but I feel that I would be taking my life in my own hands by posting a picture of her that she hates!
When I was a kid I didn't really like eating the green beans. One of our young women activities we had an etiquette night and I ate french style beans and loved them. Being ignorant I came home and asked mom if she would plant french style beans rather than the the whole ones. She was nice to inform me that you grow a bean and then cut it yourself to make it french style. Since that day I am often made fun of for my ignorance!
The funnest thing about beans this year was Brackston's help!Brackston's job was to take the beans from the fridge drawer to the bar counter so we could put them through the french style machine
Done doing his job and on to putting the beans in the cutter.
While doing beans, Katelyn was in the play/sewing room and was going through boxes and found my old dance costume. She didn't know anyone would see her and when she saw that I had my camera ready she took off running. Here is what I captured in her embarrassment!

Canning Green Beans
Red Butte Gardens
I have a great love for gardens mostly flower gardens, and have wanted to see Red Butte Gardens since I moved to Salt Lake but never found the right time to go. Last Saturday Kathy one of my co-workers and I took 4 sisters 2 of which attend Rowland Hall to Red Butte. I think I was more excited then the girls but that's me. There were constant words of "wow look at that one" "look Amy there's a cow, made you look!" "Oh that one smells good"
It was one of the hottest Saturdays and we enjoyed the water fountain for playing in twice while we were there. The girls even got into a water fight and it was so fun to watch and not participate in!!!
After Red Butte we went to Jamba Juice to rehydrate from the hot day and then headed for home!
JEEP
My driver Nick told me what JEEP stands for, thought all would enjoy!
J = Just
E = Empty
E = Every
P = Pocket
So True, cause my are empty!
Charlie and Lucy
The first of July I drove to work one morning and had parked in the parking lot, and when I got out and found a pool of antifreeze under the front of the car. I immediately felt sick and not happy. My driver Rhett and I were able to get it to our mechanic and found that my Radiator was falling apart and needed to be replaced. While replacing the radiator they found that one of the drag links was broke and decided to fix it while they were there. I got to drive the 7 passenger school van for a whole week. I didn't know what to expect when I got the bill, but to be honest it wasn't what I was expecting!!!! Almost a thousand dollars and a almost a thousand dollars I didn't have.
Not even two days later I received a call from a neighbor of the Lattins who I dog sit for. I had met them during the times spent at the Lattins. They needed a dog sitter to watch Charlie and Lucy for 9 days and though it wouldn't pay for the whole bill at least it was a start. Then a week later my friend Greg who I dog sat for in February asked for me to sit in September for 12 days. It may not cover the rest of the remaining bill but at least Heavenly Father has my attention and that he is mindful of me.
I didn't know how it would go and immediately felt like I should be next door at the Lattins and not at the neighbors house. I soon got used to it and Lucy and Charlie got used to me. The first night one of the dogs pooped in the bedroom. Goodness when did that happen! After the first couple mornings of hearing their supposed whines to be let out to go to the bathroom I realized they weren't going outside, they just wanted to get out of the kennel and sleep by me or on me. So I got smart and ignored them til they went outside and then put them back in the kennel rather than let them sleep all over me.
It turned out well, they constantly wanted to play and if they weren't playing they were sitting on me or right next to me. I did though find poop in the bedroom 3 more times and even step on it once. YUCK!!! On the last night I caught Lucy in the act and told her she was naughty and she didn't like that!
The best part about dog sitting for the Lattins neighbors was that I got to stay in a nice home and get to spend evenings with the Lattins. I would love to live next door to them always. But it won't come true :(

Rules for Teachers 1872
At work by the water cooler there is a plac (that is really old) with actual rules that teachers had to follow in 1872. They
are so great that I thought I would share them with all
who read my blog1. Teachers each day will fill lamps, clean chimneys.
2. Each teacher will bring a bucket of water and a scuttle of coal for the day's session.
3. Make your pens carefully. You may whittle nibs to the individual taste of the pupils.
4. Men teachers may take one evening each week for courting purposes, or two evenings a week if they go to church regularly.
5. After ten hours in school, the teachers may spend the remaining time reading the Bible or other good books.
6. Women teachers who marry or engage in unseemly conduct will be dismissed.
7. Every teacher should lay aside from each pay a goodly sum of his earnings for his benefit during his declining years so that he will not become a burden on society.
8. Any teacher who smokes, uses liquor in any form, frequents pool or public halls, or gets shaved in a barber shop will give good reason to suspect his worth, intention, integrity and honesty.
9. The teacher who performs his labor faithfully and without fault for five years will be given an increase of twenty-five cents per week in his pay, providing the Board of Education approves.
